New Year’s Eve is in a few days! 🎇 🎉 🎊
Like Christmas, Mother’s Day and Easter, New Year’s Eve (NYE) is a great time to attract visitors.
The odds are great that you will have visitors (and some streaming members actually showing up in person) because the saints and the aints like ‘to be in church’ on NYE.
By now, Pastors have spent valuable time planning their NYE worship experience and mostly likely have:
- settled on their 2019 theme and have ordered updated signage
- written a powerful sermon
- and have hired a guest artist, prophetic painter or even a comedian to add a little sizzle – which is all great!
- Unfortunately, the one thing that matters the most is often no where on the planning agenda and that is to AMP UP OUR GUEST HOSPITALITY.
We are in the soul winning business and all of the planning in the world is of no use if visitors aren’t touched spiritually AS WELL AS naturally by our demonstration of love and concern and led to join or return in the future.
So……how many meetings have you had regarding your New Years Eve strategy to WOW! Visitors?
Though you are expecting them, what are you doing to show you’ve planned for them?
Here are 5 GREAT TOUCHES that are still possible for you to implement before NYE (regardless of your budget or church size!).
First Touch! VIP PARKING MATTERS! Set aside special guest parking spaces and make them Special Guest Parking. Prepare directional signage at the entrance of your parking lot with instructions for visitors to turn on their hazard lights. Have your parking attendants direct them to special guest parking until it fills up. If parking is limited, rent out neighboring lots for your choir, staff and volunteers to park so your visitors can park close. Hire and position a paid security guard to watch the vehicles. Due to the lateness of the hour, provide shuttles to transport your team back and forth.
Second Touch! RED CARPET! Assign your best greeters to the Special Guest Parking section of the parking lot with pom poms, flags or signs to welcome and escort your special guests to the front entrance. If it’s a short distance, roll out a red carpet! Nothing says VIP more than a Red Carpet roll out!
Third Touch! VISITORS CHECK-IN! Set up a Visitors Check-in Station in the lobby. If space allows set up a DJ in the lobby to create a party and festive mood in the lobby. If space or budget does not allow, then create a playlist and play it on a smart device. (Your remaining greeters should be in the lobby, and all entrances, welcoming everyone as they enter.) Provide your visitors with a welcome letter, small gift, coupon or something upon arrival that states you are glad they are here. If you have a large church campus, provide a one-sheeter that outlines where the children’s area is and where the restrooms are.
Fourth Touch! TEXT TO JOIN! During the welcoming of visitors, provide a text to join number that offers a copy of EVERY sermon of 2019 for free. That’s right. EVERY SERMON IN 2019 WILL BE FREE. Don’t panic. I know you may be thinking how can we sign people up and deliver this with a staff that is already overloaded. The answer is TECHNOLOGY. I love technology and have provided this solution to many of my church clients so I can tell you it works and it is impressive. I highly recommend using Constant Contact. It’s affordable and easy to use. Use Constant Contact* to set up your text to join link. It will allow you to create a list that all of the signups email addresses will be added to.
