Stop leaving money on the table and become an affiliate.
I just got this email from a company that I am an affiliate with. An affiliate is someone that promotes a product and receives a commission or free services for doing so. As a Church Consultant and business coach, I am OFTEN asked what products or online systems do I use or recommend.
A lot of coaches don’t want to share this information, but I love helping people grow their businesses and churches so I don’t mind sharing. However, by becoming an affiliate, I’m also compensated for sharing this information. The best part about it is that the company pays me and not the person I recommend. Note: the price to purchase the product for the person I’m recommending stays the same regardless if they click through my affiliate link or not so we both win!
A couple of quick points:
- Yes, churches SHOULD ALWAYS inquire about a companies affiliate program.
- Yes, you SHOULD disclose that you are an affiliate and will be getting paid or receiving a free service as a result. (If you visit my resources page www.TheWareAgency.com/resources you’ll see my disclaimer.
- Kickbacks are illegal. A kickback occurs when the company doesn’t have an affiliate program and they pay you money from the sale of a product or as a result of your referral. Typically the money comes from them up-charging the person you recommended so they can then turn around and give you that difference. NEVER DO THIS.
To get started as an affiliate, check the footer (bottom) section of the website of your favorite product, vendor or system. This is where you will typically find a link to click that will take you to their affiliate page. Complete the steps to join and then get started. They will most likely send you your own custom affiliate link and this is what you should give out or post whenever you are sharing about this product. Then, watch your checks roll in. It’s as simple as that!
